Scott Guthery lead the Schlumberger team that created the first Java Card in 1996. In 1998 he went to Microsoft and was the architect of the Windows for Smart Card operating system and lead the implementation of the ISO 7816, GSM SIM and Open Platform applications on this platform. Scott has a PhD in Probability and Statistics from Michigan State University and worked at Bell Laboratories, Mathematica, and Yourdon before joining Schlumberger. He holds two patents for his work on Schlumberger’s Maxis well-logging system and has a number of patents pending for his work on smart cards.
