Tim Jurgensen recently retired after 26 years with Schlumberger. During
his tenure at Schlumberger, Tim was the principle architect for a
number of secure, wide area networking projects. He was the Schlumberger
technical lead for the development of Ku-band VSAT system that was
deployed in the mid-1980's and provided the first privately licensed
satellite communication system in the United States. During the early
1990's, Tim was the architect of a second-generation satellite system
that incorporated a DCE based security infrastructure and a web based
human interface.
For the last several years, Tim has been involved in smart card
development and deployment activities. He is currently working as
